INITIAL PHARMACIST LICENSURE (NOT FOR RECIPROCITY)

Candidates applying for an initial pharmacist license (graduating from Pharmacy School), will need to complete the following steps:

  • Upon graduation request certificate of graduation to be sent to the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy from your Pharmacy School
  • Out of state candidates, request certification of hours to be sent to the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy from your State Board of Pharmacy
  • Mississippi requires completion of 1600 pre-licensure hours.
  • Complete the Mississippi Initial Pharmacist License Application on our online portal.

We cannot accept cash or check payments. In the interim, candidates must register for the NAPLEX and MPJE on the National Association of Board of Pharmacies Website.

Upon completion of the application process, receipt of all pertinent documents, successful completion of the criminal background check, and completion of the registration process for the NAPLEX and the MPJE, the candidate will be released to take the exams. It takes approximately 24-48 hours after eligibility is granted to receive the Authorization To Test (ATT) number via email from Pearson Vue. After the candidate has secured an appointment to take the exam and the exam is taken, it takes approximately 3-7 Business Days for the Board Office to receive the results. Upon receipt of the test results, the scores are entered into our licensing database and, at the same time, will be posted on the MBP Website by the ATT number. Please do not call the Board Office regarding scores; we are unable to discuss results or circumstances surrounding your results via telephone. Provided all steps are completed, your license will be processed, and the system will notify you to print your wallet card. Your wallet certificate will be mailed. Please note, we no longer mail wallet cards or stickers. Once you verify your license online showing an active status, you may officially practice as a Pharmacist in the state of Mississippi.
