The Mississippi Prescription Monitoring Program has recently partnered with the Defense Health Agency (DHA) in the battle against opioid abuse and addiction. DHA has launched the Military Health System Prescription Monitoring Program (MHSPDMP) giving Mississippi access to controlled substances dispensed at a military facility. Mississippi is one of the nine states currently sharing data with the military’s drug monitoring program.
Stephanie Mueller, the Director of the MSPMP, shares how this partnership will support our efforts to protect the citizens of Mississippi by enhancing data captured for the protection of opioid use disorder or overdose from prescription overlapping. “With this addition of data sharing, providers will have a broader view of their patient’s care. This is crucial to the state of Mississippi as we continue to fight the opioid crisis in our state and nationally.”
